On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, tragically crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in at least 290 fatalities, including 241 of the 242 people onboard and at least 24 people on the ground. The aircraft came down in a residential area, hitting a hostel for medical students, causing extensive devastation. The sole survivor, identified as British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh miraculously escaped with minor injuries. One black box has been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
